Acetic acid downstream know how much -- sodium acetate

Sodium acetate, also called sodium acetate, is a sodium salt derived from acetic acid. Sodium acetate generally exists in the form with three crystal waters (sodium acetate trihydrate), colorless transparent or white granular crystals, can be weathered in the air, flammable, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether , loses crystal water at 120 ℃.

※The production process of sodium acetate:

The production of sodium acetate is generally produced by the reaction of glacial acetic acid with sodium carbonate or flake alkali or liquid sodium hydroxide,

The chemical reaction equation is:

Because the impurity content of sodium carbonate is difficult to control and the procurement cost of caustic soda is high, liquid sodium hydroxide is widely used. The reactor is made of stainless steel, and the raw material acetic acid and sodium hydroxide solution are added and stirred, and the reaction is carried out at 80-100 degrees Celsius. After the reaction is finished, concentration, cooling and crystallization are carried out, and the finished product is obtained after being dried by a centrifuge.

※The main purpose of sodium acetate:

1. In the food industry, sodium acetate is used as a preservative and pickling agent. Since salt helps foods maintain a specific pH, it stops harmful bacteria from growing. In the pickling process, this product is used in large quantities, not only as a buffer between food and microorganisms, but also to improve food taste.

2. In the environmental protection industry, sodium acetate can be used to treat urban sewage. Using sodium acetate as a supplementary carbon source, the denitrification sludge was acclimated, and then the pH value during the denitrification process was controlled within the range of 0.5 with a buffer solution. The denitrifying bacteria can over-adsorb CH3COONa, so when CH3COONa is used as an external carbon source for denitrification, the COD value in the water can also be maintained at a low level.

3. In other industries, sodium acetate is widely used in printing and dyeing, medicine, chemical preparations, industrial catalysts, preparation of energy storage materials and other fields.
